Bill made a comment to the blog about traveling. I am fortunate to get to travel - for work, family or fun - to places I enjoy. Right now I'm waiting for a flight in one of those oh so special places....the airport in Atlanta. I just can't get enough of long lines for the restroom, expensive sandwiches at elbow to elbow tables, and flight delays.
Oh yeah. I used to do the "road warrior" thing. I spent 11 years traveling all over the continental U.S., staying 100 to 150 nights per year in hotels. Typical trip was anywhere from 10 to 30 days at a clip. Twice I did six weeks on the road. After the second time, I told the boss I wasn't doing that anymore. But it was common to do 2-3 weeks.
ReplyDeleteI don't miss any of that. And I hate flying anymore. It was unpleasant enough before 9/11 and the TSA. Now in addition to being uncomfortable, it's almost insulting.
On the plus side, I did get to see a lot of the country that I never would have made it to otherwise, and it's a neat place with lots of very cool things to see.
Safe and pleasant travels to you, Steve.

ReplyDeleteI had forgotten that you had told me about your days "on the road." I feel your pain. But at the same time it is good to see the country.
