The garage is now a boat yard for late winter maintenance. Sanding down and patching of the spars, fixing a few dings on the hull, probably cockpit paint. Also have a new outboard, you can see it at the right in the photo above, that required some adjustments to the motor mount.
New sails, new outboard, waiting on the new canvas sail covers. Could be a week or two before I get back on the water. But not to worry, plenty of time for sailing this year.
Love the sight of a boatyard... New outboard? what happened to the honda 2hp?
ReplyDeleteSix years old. I've worn it out starting to leak a little oil, oil inspection cover cracked. I would like to get a new one, but old one was made in Japan, new ones made in China and get bad review for quality of metals used. steve
ReplyDeleteoh ok. Suzuki looks like 4-stroke but cannot see aircooling openings... Is it watercooled?
ReplyDeleteHi Steve, welcome back from SD! Question, what's the part in your second photo? Looks like some dry rot setting in, what's your plan? And all the best for the coming sailing season.....
ReplyDeleteIt's water-cooled, Rik. I would really prefer the Honda air-cooled but reviews are so negative these days I don't trust them. Those are superficial nicks in the mast, Tom, mostly from the turnbuckles dinging the mast when rigging and unrigging. Because of the lighting looks worse that it is. I sand down to good wood, recoat with expoxy and varnish.
ReplyDeleteBecause it is water cooled the block will probably remain good longer. Good thing we have sails... ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Suzuki is a great little motor. I love mine!
