looking for warm weather

I just noticed that the countdown for the 2011 Everglades Challenge is down to less than thirty days.  I'm very glad to see that.  I don't compete in the Everglades Challenge but I do enjoy following it online.  And it is to me one of those harbingers, along with the superbowl and spring training, of the coming sailing season.  Warm weather is not too far off.

The photo at the top is from my first sail of 2009.  It was March 7, the earliest I've gotten out on the water.  A little wind, lots of sunshine.  Just a great day.

Last year I was sailing for the first time on March 19.   I can't remember if it was weather or work, but for some reason I was out there later than I hoped.  But no complaints here, it was the beginning of a great year of sailing with lots of days sails and four cruises.

I'm hoping this year will be just as good.

Steve,
What do you use for your side stays? It looks like
spectra or something like it.

It is synthetic rope called amsteel, available through west marine. I use it for the side stays and the bobstay too. Easy to work with, strong and virtually no stretch.
