south then north then south/the ocean always wins

Down in Nags Head for the first time in nearly a year. Can't believe it has been so long since I've been to the Outer Banks.  I'll head north to St. Michaels tomorrow, then back south Monday to hook up Spartina's trailer and drive to Hobucken, NC for the spring sail.  I'm glad I chose Pamlico Sound for the sail,  I've been away too long.

The reason for the visit to Nags Head is to see six south Nags Head homes, claimed by the ocean, being dismantled.  A 2009 storm severely damaged the homes and they have been in legal limbo since.  Condemned for years, the legal fight has been resolved and what was a stretch of homes will now be sand and ocean.  Years of watching hurricanes and nor'easters down here has shown me that the ocean will always, always win.
