Beautiful! Steve, I've just started reading your blog over the weekend , the advantage of a soggy, shut-in weekend. Your straight-forward writing and detailed GPS tracks are wonderful, but your photography is sublime....
And, as you evidently already know, overcast clouds are nature's own huge softbox. A break in the clouds is a gobo, and then a golden ray of sunshine - perfection! Your patience paid off. (ahem, yes, lots of high iso noise... perfection is not about pixels)
Confession.....it was shot with an iPhone. You go with what you got...
