the past few days

The last picture in this post is from this morning.  Cloudy and cool with a forecast of rain.  I’m back in Oriental after ten days that included some excellent sailing, visits to New Bern, Beaufort and Cape Lookout Bight.  There was a challenging sail up shoal-filled Core Sound and then a couple of gentle sails through beautiful canals.  High winds and waves kept me at anchor for a day.  Winds the following day carried me back to Oriental.

I’ve got a room for the night.  About halfway through the trip this is the perfect time to do laundry, get cleaned up, resupply and recharge batteries.

Glad you are doing well. I saw you head out Turnagain Bay then go back, and then to Oriental and I was afraid you had some sort of gear failure.

No, not a gear problem, just big steep waves coming across the wide fetch of the Neuse River. Thought it better to wait it out. Steve

-pleasure meeting you in Oriental yesterday. Enjoyed talking with you and learning about your boat and discussion navigating the core sound. Be sure to play around with that sonar layer in Navionics. The color scheme throws you off for a second but it may reveal a path when the other layers don’t. Fair winds!
