back on home waters

Cooler than expected, and with gusty winds this morning.  Back on the Elizabeth River for the first time since early January.  How many miles on the road between now and then?  I don't know.  How many rivers, creeks, narrows and sounds between Charleston, S.C. and Nowhere, Ga.?  Don't know that either.  But it has been a great winter and now I'm looking forward to summer.

Man, I'm jealous! Glad you're back on home waters. Over here in Piedmont North Carolina, beautiful but gusty day - 15kts gusting 25. Wanted to do my first sail of the year, using my brand-new sails, some running rigging a bit iffy, I'm operating on 5 hours sleep, my crew for today is completely hung over... Yeah, just too much risk (on an unballasted oversized dinghy). Excuses for not sailing? Maybe. But like you, I like to stay well within the safety margin. I thought of you and your mizzen as I called off today's sail. There's always tomorrow!

This time of year it is always a little "iffy." Plenty of time to sail later.
