"unbuckle your seat belt, roll down the windows"

That's the advice the locals on Hatteras give people who are about to drive over the 47 year old Bonner Bridge. " It'll be easier to get out of your car when the bridge collapses and you fall into the ocean."
The bridge is old, has structural problems and needs to be replaced.  But politics, studies and funding are in the way of a new bridge.  
I didn't worry about that today while driving over the bridge, I just enjoyed the storm rolling in over the barrier islands.

The clouds moved through as I headed north, the skies cleared as I reached Kitty Hawk.  I spotted this rainbow off the beach.  It was a nice, very brief visit to the outer banks.
