stuff

Stuff from SPARTINA, and some new stuff, seems to have taken over the room over the garage.  I needed to clean the boat out for winter maintenance.

There is some new gear in the mix, above the Watershed Drybags, that I been packing and repacking to see what fits best where.  You also see some food supplies at the top right - Rx bars, cans of tuna, ginger chews and Tanka bars - that I am using as I try to come up with the most efficient way - both for space and  access - to pack and stow.

There is a new boom tent storage bag from the nice ladies at Little Bay Canvas, plus various lines for docking, reefing and whatever.  I want to figure out what I need and don't need.

In the meantime I am working on SPARTINA.  Last week was sanding.  This week a little more sanding and the epoxy work.  And if the weather is as warm as forecast later this week maybe I'll do some varnish work too.  Then more varnish and painting next week.

I want to get it all done by the end of January, which should be very possible, so I can get in the Mango drysuit and do some winter sailing on the Pasquotank River.

Is it just me, or does it feel like we are back in a lock down these days?  Maybe just survival mode kicking in.

Hey Steve, I just wanted to let you know that I always enjoy seeing "The Log of Spartina" in my inbox and I read every one. I know it sounds cliche or corny, but you are an inspiration and motivation for me to get my own little open plywood sailboat back in good condition and splash it in the bay. Every time I see one of those pics of some absolutely gorgeous little remove cove, creek or inlet in the early morning gloaming, it reminds me that I really have to get out there!

I have (and have been having) a lot going on for now, but I really do hope to get to working on the boat this year and getting it in the water so I can do some overnight camping. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have quite your level of self-discipline and organization! The boat I have needs a LOT of work, after years of neglect from previous owners.

Anyhow, just some positive feedback in an increasingly negative world.

Thanks, Bill. These days I have the advantage of free time and I'm trying to make the most of it. Good luck to you. Steve

Hi Steve

We enjoy looking at the gear you carry, good stuff.

I imagine you lock down feeling is more of a "land locked" feeling, you're itching to get SPARTINA ship shape and back on the water. That's why we keep many boats, so something is always ready to go mucking about.

Cheers
Clark and Skipper

Agreed. My most recent experience on the water, just motoring from the marina to the ramp a little over a week ago, was a real treat. Back on the water by February, if not earlier. Steve
