have you ever wanted to kiss your anchor?

Line of thunderstorms last night, moving at 35 to 45 mph, winds 45 to 70. We were anchored behind the sand spit at the southern end of Tangier. Storms from 9 pm to 1 am. GPS track this morning was a circle around the anchor as we moved with each storm. The anchor did not move an inch. Screen shot from Barry.

Ouch! Well done, anyway. May I ask you how much your anchor weights? Chain?

The storms have been rough. We've been sailing from Cape Chartles arriving at Chesapeake City this morning. We had severe storms 5 of the last 6 nights and rain and storms are forecast for the next 6 days. It was still a great trip. Hope you're enjoying yours as well.

Kevin,
my two roughest lights were Saturday and Monday. Where were you anchored those nights? I was on the Honga River Saturday night and at behind the sand spit at Tangier on Monday. steve

We were in the Honga River saturday night also. Roch Hall Monday night. Boats were bucking like wild horses.

Enrico,

I use a 5 lb plow anchor (forget the brand name), six feet of chain and then a 5 lb mushroom anchor at the top of that as a sentinel. It held well at Tangier Island. A couple nights earlier, when the wind swung instantly from southwest to a very strong northeast, I did drag anchor then - a first with the system.
