late morning

Just after 10 a.m., three hours into the race SOS and DWSB are offshore of Longboat Key sailing in a nice breeze out of the east, though it looks like the wind is starting to swing a little to the south.

SandyBottom is inside of Longboat Pass, not too far away from the top of Sarasota Bay.

Checkpoint one is roughly 60 miles south of Tampa at Placida.

For a firsthand description of a typical EC start check out Floatsome's description at Kiwibird's blog.

I'm so glad you and Floatsome are doing commentary and pictures, Steve. In past years, it was just Spot tracks. Words are better!
