Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks

Spent yesterday at Cape Lookout, then made our way today through the shoals and ebb tide currents past (scaffold-covered) Cape Lookout Lighthouse to a nice little anchorage on the inside of Shackleford Banks.

Good spot, but sometimes the wind & the tidal current don't cooperate there. Probably more of an issue with my old 30-footer that drew 4-1/2 feet so I had to anchor farther out in the stream. Hop you are having a great cruise.

Steve, You made the cover of today's Towndock.net, with a lovely painting of your boat by plain air artist Sarah Baskin. Have a look. I enjoyed seeing pictures of Cape Lookout and the Shackleford Banks, where I sailed in my Wayfarer nearly 30 years ago .......Thanks.

Four and a half foot draft seems like it would make for some challenging sailing in this area. Yes, having a great sail.

A wayfarer? A classic boat, great for this area. I did see Keith was kind enough to post the painting. Very nice to see.
