Just trading in an old worn hip for a newer model. I've known it was coming for a couple of decades, and just glad to have it done. Appreciate the kind thoughts.

Ahh, truly an apt title then. Big fan of your blog by the way -- I plan on starting a pathfinder build within the next 6 months and hope to ultimately end up sailing many of the same waters

Steve said...

Excellent. Good luck with the build. steve

Best wishes Steve. Hope you get back to working on the boat in record time.

Thanks, Jim. This was all timed for the non-sailing season, plus the nfl playoffs. It seems to be working well.

I hear it is a little chilly outside. Stay warm!

Thanks, Graham. Just had first physical therapy session. I think I outperformed everybody in the group (three little old and very nice ladies). When does spring get here?

You did plan well, Steve! Here's to a quick recovery. Happy New Year!

Steve said...

Thank you! I did tell the doc I wanted to be home for Saturday's kickoff. steve

Whoa! Don't do that to us! Sheesh.

Glad to see it's "just" a new hip, and not something more serious.

Mend well and quickly!

Thanks, Bill. Let's going sailing this year. steve

All the best to you Steve, I wish you fair winds through the recovery process.

Thanks. I hope you and Dred have a great trip to Florida (wish I was going along!). Steve

Dang, I missed this photo, didn't scroll down far enough. I don't really know that many fellers that get a hip replaced at 50, but then, I haven't seen everything. Wait till you turn 60. :-)

I was told that sailing would be "good medicine" for recovery from such surgery. We'll take it for granted that you'll take that doctor's advice.

Know you will mend well; that's still in front of me at 68. Keep up with recuperation & take it as it comes.

All the best.

Other side of the pond is extremely warm, very wet and very windy. Arwen lies neglected on our sloping drive. We are just recovering from our Christmas trip to finland.

I am really glad to see you up and about and going home a day early, what a bonus. Well done steve. Take it easy, look after yourself. Looking forward to seeing you out on water in March

Christmas in Finland, must have been nice. Winter is a difficult time for small wooden boats.

Spring sailing may be delayed. Priority will be getting the hip back in shape. I want it right for the long run. I've had such good sailing the last couple of years that I won't mind missing a couple of weeks on the water in exchange for a good hip to last me the next few decades.

Absolutely right priority. Patience now with appropriate exercise will pay off later. I guess you will have plenty of interesting books to read

I'm hoping to get to work de wintering Arwen in the next few weeks. I'm aiming to get out on the water during February half term, if not before.

Take care now
Steve
