less like a peregrine, more like a pelican
Bill made a comment to the blog about traveling. I am fortunate to get to travel - for work, family or fun - to places I enjoy. Right now I'm waiting for a flight in one of those oh so special places....the airport in Atlanta. I just can't get enough of long lines for the restroom, expensive sandwiches at elbow to elbow tables, and flight delays.

Oh yeah. I used to do the "road warrior" thing. I spent 11 years traveling all over the continental U.S., staying 100 to 150 nights per year in hotels. Typical trip was anywhere from 10 to 30 days at a clip. Twice I did six weeks on the road. After the second time, I told the boss I wasn't doing that anymore. But it was common to do 2-3 weeks.
I don't miss any of that. And I hate flying anymore. It was unpleasant enough before 9/11 and the TSA. Now in addition to being uncomfortable, it's almost insulting.
On the plus side, I did get to see a lot of the country that I never would have made it to otherwise, and it's a neat place with lots of very cool things to see.
Safe and pleasant travels to you, Steve.

I had forgotten that you had told me about your days "on the road." I feel your pain. But at the same time it is good to see the country.
